The winners of this year’s Exhibitor Bursary have just been announced, with delicious food and drink ranging from the fruity to the downright unusual.
In 2012, top chef Will Holland ran a Slow Food Taste Workshop using Longhorn Beef from Great Berwick Organics, calling it, ‘the best beef he’s ever tasted’. This year Great Berwick will be exhibiting throughout the weekend for the first time, giving guests the opportunity to experience wonderful, organic longhorn beef, meat that Heston Blumenthal has called, ‘the best steak in the world’.
If you’re looking for something really unusual, why not visit Shropshire Wild Boar; the only licensed wild boar farm in Shropshire, they have created a range of slow grown boar products including salami and chorizo. There’s also Chef in the Wood, whose range of terrines and pates will intrigue and inspire you; with his unusual ingredients such as squirrel and pigeon and his ‘nose to tail’ methods of creating minimal waste when cooking.
Next dip into the exquisite range of products from The Sauce Queen; with sauces for fish, meat, pasta and even desserts, you’re bound to find a royal accompaniment to any dish. And for something quirky to spice up your cooking, such as fresh Rosemary Salt or a Worcester Spicy Cherry Seasoning, visit Wright’s Culinary Delights.
The Festival is getting fruity this year and our stalls are jam-packed with homemade chutneys, cordials and fruit liqueurs available from our bursary winners. Visit Fabulously Fruity for delicious cordials; their motto is ‘local fruit, local flavour’. For jams, marmalades and pickles made with love and home grown fruit, pop along to the Berrylicious stand.
Throughout the Festival, Alison’s Homemade Cordials will be selling their award-winning Lemonade Cordial, amongst other delights. And don’t miss out on a visit to The Windfall Project, a small company that produces innovative jams and chutneys whilst helping vulnerable adults learn valuable work-based skills and build self-confidence.
If you’re looking for something sweet to finish it all off, pop over to Hodghurst Farm and sample their new range of gluten-free cakes and pastries. Or take a look at Ooomeringues’ stall with their delicious handmade meringues in a range of colours, flavours and shapes. And if you can’t wait to get home and start cooking, don’t forget to stop by Carey Organics to pick up some locally-grown fruit and veg, as well as homemade cider and apple juice.
Ludlow Food Festival runs from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th September 2013.
