Gymnasts from a Shropshire school representing the West Midlands finished second in the country at the recent British Gymnastics National Schools finals, having won the regional round in January.

The U14 girls from Shrewsbury High School were required to perform a floor routine and 2 vaults and had spent many hours preparing for the event.

There were 12 schools competing for the national title, one from each region of England and Wales.

The Shrewsbury High School girls performed exceptionally well showing skill, effort, and determination. When their second place results were announced they had only lost out on the national title by 0.55marks, an amazing achievement and thoroughly well deserved. Congratulations to Lucie Thouvenin, Lilia Banks, Evee Stevenson-Lea, Natalie Brick and Zoe Ward.

In a week celebrating some outstanding sporting success, Shrewsbury High School has once again retained the Oddfellows shield which is awarded to the best overall performing school at the U12 – U16 county netball tournaments.

Shrewsbury High has now won the shield for the 18th time in 19 years – a fantastic achievement showing that we continue to dominate the county at netball and a credit to the 104 Senior girls who have competed for the school this year.
