Our sources have stated that the former Wolves and Millwall manager will be the next Shrewsbury Town boss should he decide to accept the club’s offer.
The 54-year-old is believed to have held brief discussions with the Shrewsbury Town hierarchy.
According to our sources, noises were made that Kenny Jackett will be appointed if he wants the task of improving the club’s league position.
He has been out of work since leaving Wolves in July following the club’s takeover by Fosun International.
Jackett guided Wolves to the League One title in 2014; and in the following season they missed out on the play-offs by goal difference.
He had a brief spell in charge of Watford before being appointed Swansea City manager in 2004.
Jackett guided the Swans to the 2007 Football League Trophy – whilst the club earned back to back FAW Premier Cup’s.
But the ex Welsh international made his name at Millwall. Jackett helped the Lions achieve promotion to the Championship.
Millwall visited Wembley again in 2013; where they were beaten FA Cup semi-finalists.
Martin Allen, John Coleman, Jim Bentley, Rob Edwards, and Steven Pressley have all been heavily linked with the job.
But Steve Cotterill, Paul Hurst, Tony Mowbray, and Danny Coyne have all ruled themselves out.
Coyne is likely to take charge of the team against Walsall on Saturday. If Jackett is appointed this week, his first game will be at home to Sheffield United on Tuesday.
