Shrewsbury v Peterborough

A win for Shrewsbury on Saturday will confirm their safety as they prepare for their final match of the season at Greenhous Meadow.

Town will also be safe if Blackpool lose at home to League One champions elect Wigan Athletic.

Micky Mellon could ring the changes for tomorrow’s clash; after admitting he got the team selection wrong during the first half of the 2-1 defeat against Walsall.

Both Shaun Whalley and Larnell Cole could start. Mellon could switch to the conventional 4-4-2 formation.

Mickey Demetriou (ligament damage) and Junior Brown (knee) are out for the rest of the season.

Town have lost four of their last five matches against Peterborough. Their last win against them came in March 2007, when goals from Ben Davies and Derek Asamoah sealed a 2-1 home win.

Posh are on the search for a new manager following the sacking of Graham Westley. Caretaker boss Grant McCann is the favourite to secure the role on a permanent basis.

Former England, Everton and Southampton striker James Beattie has thrown his hat into the ring. Other contenders include Leeds boss Steve Evans, former Burnley manager Steve Cotterill and ex Newcastle chief John Carver.

For tomorrow’s match, McCann may start Chris Forrester who has been dubbed the ‘new Micheal Carrick.’ The 23 year old was suspended for the 2-0 home defeat against Scunthorpe.

Jermaine Anderson and Joe Gormley (both knee) have been ruled out. Jordan Nicholson (broken leg) is sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Peterborough are 14th in League One.
