Shrewsbury are reported to have joined a host of clubs in the race to sign Robins defender Adam El-Abd.
With the futures of Zak Whitbread and Anthony Gerrard still up in the air – Shrews boss Micky Mellon is reportedly looking to sign an experienced central defender.
One man who certainly fits that criteria is former Egyptian international Adam El-Abd.
He started his career at Brighton and Hove Albion – making 300 appearances during an 11 year spell from 03/14; finding the net on five occasions.
The 31 year joined Bristol City for an undisclosed fee in 2014, and has so far made 14 appearances for the Championship club.
El-Abd spent the majority of last season plying his trade with then League Two Bury, and has featured against Shrewsbury this season for Swindon Town.
The 6ft 1 defender is also thought to be the subject of interest from AFC Wimbledon, Leyton Orient, Rochdale and his former club Bury.
