Cardiff V Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury will be looking to put behind their humiliating 7-1 defeat to Chesterfield – when they travel to Cardiff in the 3rd round of the FA Cup tomorrow.

Shrewsbury completed two more signings yesterday – Richie Wellens put pen to paper on an 18 month contract; joining from Doncaster on a free transfer. Town also signed Kyle Vassell on-loan from Peterborough until the end of the season.

Wellens, who has amassed more than 550 appearances with clubs including Leicester, Doncaster and Blackpool – could make the bench. Vassell is cup-tied after playing in a previous round and therefore, is ineligible to play.

Shrewsbury will be without ex Dagenham midfielder Abu Ogogo – he suffered a hamstring injury in the 7-1 thumping against Chesterfield last time out; and is expected to miss six weeks of action.

Anthony Gerrard also came off in that match with a similar problem – but he should be fit enough to face his former club.

Jack Grimmer and Andy Mangan could both make their second debuts for the club.

These two sides met in pre-season where they shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

The last competitive fixture between the two teams came in April 2001 – which ended in a 3-1 win for Cardiff.

Town have not beaten Cardiff away from home since a 2-1 victory in April 1995.

Bluebirds boss Russell Slade could hand starts to Peter Whittingham and Kagisho Dikgacoi.

Simon Moore is expected to be chosen ahead of David Marshall in the Cardiff goal.

Striking duo Tony Watt and Federico Macheda could spearhead the Cardiff attack.

Cardiff beat Blackburn 1-0 in their last encounter, and currently occupy 9th place in the Championship standings.

The match kicks off at 6pm – and is live on Welsh speaking channel S4C (viewers in the rest of the UK can programme their TV’s to produce English subtitles.)

Viewers in Wales can watch the game on Sky channel 104, Freeview 4, Virgin TV 166, and Freesat 104.

Viewers across the rest of the UK, will be able to see the first competitive game in 14 years between Town and Cardiff on Sky channel 134, Freesat 120 and on Virgin TV 166.
