The holders face hosts Shrewsbury at 10.15am and Shifnal play last season’s beaten finalists Whitchurch at 1.30pm in the two semi finals, with the final scheduled for 5pm.

All four clubs have experienced mixed form this summer in their respective divisions of the Birmingham and District Cricket League, but Shrewsbury club captain Ed Foster is expecting a very competitive and entertaining day of cricket on Sunday.

“Each of the clubs is not having an overly successful season in their respective leagues, so the Salop Leisure Knockout Twenty20 tournament is a great opportunity for them,” said Foster. “I think it will be evenly contested because each side has excellent players and it should make for some good cricket.

“The weather forecast looks good, so hopefully Shropshire cricket fans will turn out in force to support the teams. The continued support of Salop Leisure, who have sponsored this and previous competitions for many years, is very much appreciated.”

Foster selected the following players to look out for in the competition: captain Anthony Parker and Jonty Mountford from Shifnal, Jono Whitney and James Ralph from Bridgnorth, Maz Hasnain from Whitchurch and Joe Leach and Ryan Bishop from Shrewsbury.

Tony Bywater, chairman of Shrewsbury-based caravan dealership Salop Leisure, said: “We hope to see a large crowd at Shrewsbury Cricket Club on Sunday for this festival of cricket that showcases some of the county’s best players.”
