The event, which is in its second year, is an opportunity for supporters to mingle with players during the long summer break. Tigers player-coach Tom Watkins will use the chance to reveal his latest signings, which he believes add further strength to the Telford line-up. He said: “These two guys will form a major part of the side next season, and our home-grown contingent is now looking really strong. “Our ethos has always been about developing young talent and I have no doubt that they will be welcomed by the fans. “The squad is shaping up really nicely and with the import players coming in, I am very happy.”
The limited-overs competition is open to teams of six players, with all proceeds going to the club. DW Sports & Fitness will be sponsoring the major prizes, with free passes up for grabs to the winning side. Watkins praised the efforts of the club’s fans in organising Sunday’s event, which forms a major part of a summer fundraising drive. “A massive thanks to one of our fans, Ben Byram, for organising the event, which demonstrates how close the club and trust are to the local community,” he added.
“Anyone can join the Tiger Tracks Supporters Trust and own part of the club. What we are doing is unique in British ice hockey and events like this show how well it works.”
