The proposed changes, which will be put to a Special General Meeting to be held at the New Bucks Head Stadium of AFC Telford United Supporters Trust on 31st March.
The changes are set to reaffirm it’s community ownership status and values whilst at the same time open up new opportunities for supporters to get involved in the club.
Both the Trust and Club Board are likely to be reshuffled leading to the creation of a new role focussed on Fan and Community engagement, and the creation of a new Forza group which will provide opportunities to work on a arrange of projects to involve fans in the life of the Club.
The club said the changes will also allow the Trust to raise finance through the issuing of Community Shares.
The Trust Board and the Club Board have been working closely over the last 9 months to improve the way the Club operates. This follows on from the Peer review that the Club undertook at the end of last season led by former Chief Executive of Telford and Wrekin Council, Michael Frater and Club supporter Pete Jackson.
Club Chairman, Lee Carter, said “We cannot stress enough the importance of these proposed changes. They represent a significant step change for the organisation making us fitter for purpose for the challenges ahead, whilst at the same time offering new opportunities for supporters. These proposals, if accepted, will mark a significant moment in the evolution of the club.â€
Trust Chairman, David Embrey, said “The Club and Trust Board have invested a significant amount of time, effort and thought into these proposals which we are certain will provide a more solid foundation on which to build a successful community owned organisation.â€
There will be 2 consultation events where Trust members will be able to ask questions and discuss the changes in advance of the 31st March. The first will be held 17th March at 5.15 following the Fleetwood game and the second on 27th March at 6.15 before the Forest Green Rovers game. Both meetings will be held in the Learning Centre.
Documents will be sent to members over the coming days and will be made available online on the clubs official site.
