The event on May 22 provides an opportunity for players to access the brand new indoor facilities at the Oakengates Centre as well as receive coaching from Lawn Tennis Association accredited coaches.
It is aimed at young people aged from six to 18 and gives young tennis players the chance to meet LTA Talent Performance coach Alison McDonald, meet other players of a similar standard and enjoy their tennis.
Players can turn up on the day of the event to take part. The session for children under 10 runs from 10am-noon and the session for 11-18 year olds runs from 1-3pm.
The tennis centre will also be holding a mini tennis red camp for children aged four to seven years and a Junior Tennis Camp for eight to 14 year olds between Monday May 30 and Friday 3 June.
To book a place on these training camps contact Chris Cash on 07590 572454 or email information@firstpointtenniscoaching.co.uk
Stuart Davidson, Telford & Wrekin Council’s business manager for leisure services, said: “The new tennis centre is a fantastic facility that has already proved a success with local residents, who have been using its first class facilities in their numbers.
“FirstPoint Tennis Coaching are now beginning to develop an extensive coaching programme that will operate from the centre and the Search For A Star event and training camps are all part of that.
“I would encourage everyone from budding tennis stars to people who have never picked up a racquet before to come along and join in the fun.â€
