The Save Babbinswood Farm campaign has announced a major breakthrough, confirming that it has exceeded its minimum fundraising target, with current funding now over £260,000.

This milestone means the campaign can now begin the process of purchasing land at Babbinswood Farm, securing it into long-term community ownership.
The achievement marks a turning point for the much-loved organic farm in North Shropshire, ensuring that part of the land will remain organically farmed and protected for community benefit.
Reaching the minimum target enables the Babbinswood Farm Community Benefit Society (BFCBS) to move forward with land purchase and establish secure, long-term stewardship rooted in community ownership. The campaign will now progress from fundraising to acquisition, while continuing to raise funds to increase the amount of land that can be secured, where sufficient funding allows.
“We are incredibly thankful to everyone who has supported this campaign over the past two years,” said Casha Bowles-Jones. “We have been shown extraordinary kindness and generosity — from the volunteers who have held this project so close to their hearts, to our board of directors who continue to meet regularly and fight to save the farm, and the team working tirelessly behind the scenes. Most of all, we are grateful to everyone who has shared our story, donated, bought shares, and taken action to help make community ownership of this land possible. Thank you.”
The campaign remains open, with supporters encouraged to continue donating or to become community shareholders. Community shares are priced at £50 each. Shares and donations can currently be made online via Crowdfunder, which is now, due to everyone’s support has been extended until the end of January, as well as by visiting the farm or through the organisation’s website.
Funds raised beyond the minimum target will be used to support the purchase of additional parcels of land where sufficient funds are raised to do so, or to invest in community activities and stewardship associated with the land secured.
Babbinswood Organic Farm has long been a community-orientated family farm, known for its organic practices, care for soil and animals, and commitment to environmental education and wellbeing. The campaign was launched in response to the risk of the land being sold on the open market, and has gained widespread public support since its launch.
The campaign deadline to reach the minimum target of £250,000 was 31 December 2025, and organisers say the strong momentum demonstrates continued public support for community ownership of farmland.
