Stuart Anderson, Member of Parliament for South Shropshire, joined members of Ludford Parish Council recently for a detailed walkaround of the Ludlow Park and Ride site to hear directly from local residents and councillors on issues affecting the facility and wider community.

During the visit, Stuart heard ongoing concerns about anti-social behaviour and stressed the need for targeted action to ensure the Park & Ride is a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained gateway for residents, commuters, and visitors to Ludlow.
Improving the appearance and security of the site, Stuart noted, could significantly enhance community pride in the facility and encourage greater use, reducing town centre traffic pressure and supporting local businesses. This was also raised with Stuart at a recent meeting with Ludlow 21 Sustainable Transport Group.
Stuart’s comments reinforce the objectives of his ongoing ‘Shop Local’ campaign, which has engaged residents and business owners across Ludlow on the future of the high street. The campaign has shown that accessibility and parking arrangements are pivotal to encouraging shoppers back to high streets and supporting local trading environments.
Stuart Anderson MP said, “Accessible and attractive transport options are essential to support our high streets, local jobs, and rural prosperity. By tackling anti-social behaviour and investing in improvements at the Ludlow Park and Ride, we can boost confidence in public spaces and make it easier for families and visitors to access our wonderful town centre.”
Cllr Phil Middleton of Ludford Parish Council added, “The Ludlow Park & Ride has become a hotspot for anti-social behaviour, including disruptive noise pollution from irresponsible drivers, and in its current state presents a poor first impression of Ludlow. Visitors are encouraged to use the facility yet are met with a site that is badly maintained and in urgent need of improvement.”
In addition to transport and town centre priorities, Stuart reaffirmed his support for the proposals to build a new Ludlow Community Hospital adjacent to the Park and Ride site. He emphasised the importance of modern, locally accessible health services in rural communities and reiterated his commitment to championing investment in community healthcare infrastructure.
The visit concluded with a commitment from Stuart and councillors to pursue practical steps to enhance the Park and Ride, including strengthened policing presence where needed, improved site aesthetics, and engagement with Shropshire Council and West Mercia Police on community safety strategies.
