Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) Fire Control received an emergency call at 4.49 am on Thursday, 18 December, reporting a commercial building fire at the Shifnal Industrial Estate.

A major response was quickly mobilised, with six fire appliances dispatched to the scene. Crews from Albrighton, Telford Central, Tweedale, and Wellington attended the incident, supported by specialist equipment including an Incident Command Unit and a Light Pumping Unit.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) entered the smoke-filled premises to combat the flames. At the height of the operation, teams utilised six breathing apparatus sets, two main jets, and a hose reel jet to bring the fire under control.

Senior operations, safety, and fire investigation officers were also present to oversee the efforts and begin the process of determining the cause of the outbreak.

A “stop” message – indicating that the fire had been successfully contained and no further resources were required – was received at 7.30 am.

A spokesperson for SFRS confirmed: “Crews are still working hard on the scene to dampen down the areas and ensure there are no remaining hotspots.”
