The Priory School in Shrewsbury is set to embark on a new chapter following the announcement of Cal Knight as its permanent Headteacher.

he appointment, made by The 3-18 Education Trust, follows a rigorous selection process and marks a major milestone for the high-achieving secondary school.

Cal Knight brings a wealth of experience, boasting 23 years of dedication to teaching across various leadership roles in pastoral care and curriculum development. Before relocating to Shrewsbury, Cal taught in schools across Bristol and outer London, gaining diverse experience that has proven invaluable at The Priory School.

A Proven Leader in Shrewsbury

Cal Knight’s commitment to The Priory School is well-established. She initially joined the team in 2016 as Assistant Headteacher and was subsequently promoted to Deputy Headteacher in 2020, solidifying her integral role in the school’s recent successes.

Commenting on her new permanent position, Cal Knight expressed her enthusiasm:

“I am absolutely delighted to have been made permanent Headteacher at The Priory School and look forward to continuing working with staff, students, parents and carers to continue to take the school from strength to strength.”

Unanimous Decision from the Trust

The appointment was confirmed by David O’Toole, CEO at The 3-18 Education Trust, who praised Cal’s performance during the two-day interview process.

“Following a thorough two day interview process, the selection panel was unanimous in choosing Cal, highlighting her clear passion and dedication to leading the school—qualities she has demonstrated since stepping in as Acting Headteacher last September.

“During her time as Acting Headteacher, Cal has already shown remarkable leadership skills. Her enthusiasm for education, steadfast commitment, and alignment with Priory School’s values have truly stood out.”
