Shrewsbury Town Council reports strong community engagement, with their “Future Services” survey on budget and service provision receiving more than 1,000 responses from Shrewsbury residents in just over a month.

The survey, which was promoted to every household in the parish area, is helping the Town Council gather valuable input to inform the 2026/2027 budget and shape future service delivery. Residents were asked to share their views on local priorities, services, and areas where the Town Council could make the most impact as it prepares to take on additional responsibilities from Shropshire Council.

Rob Wilson, Leader of Shrewsbury Town Council, said:

“We’re really pleased with the response so far — hearing from over 1,000 residents in just a few weeks shows how much people care about the future of their town. Every response helps us understand what matters most to our community, and it will play a key role in shaping the decisions we make about services and spending in the coming year. We encourage anyone who hasn’t yet taken part to make their voice heard before the survey closes.”

Input from all Shrewsbury residents is valuable, whether online at www.shrewsburytowncouncil.gov.uk/have-your-say or by requesting a hard copy which is available from: Livesey House, 7 St John’s Hill, Shrewsbury, SY1 1JD.

Cllr Wilson added:

“These are important decisions for Shrewsbury’s future. By sharing your views, you are helping us ensure that local services are delivered effectively, responsibly, and in a way that reflects the priorities of the community.”

Shrewsbury Town Council is keeping the survey open until Friday 2nd January, providing time for the responses to be reviewed and considered by councillors ahead of the budget setting later that month. Everyone’s responses will be used as a guide in budget-setting and for service delivery in 2026/2027.
