A fire alarm alerted the residents of a property in Market Drayton that a fire had broken out in their home during the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were called to the fire in the kitchen of a property on Elm Drive in Market Drayton at 12.53am.
On arrival at the scene of Market Drayton appliances, the crew were confronted by smoke issuing from the ground and first floors of a semidetached domestic property.
Information was quickly received that the two adult occupants and their dog were out of the property and were safe.
The incident commander quickly carried out a dynamic risk assessment, and committed two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus into the property with a high pressure hose reel jet to locate and extinguish the fire.
On arrival of the Hodnet appliance, a second breathing apparatus team were committed to assisting in fire fighting and carrying out ventilation.
The fire was found to be contained in the kitchen and involved a cupboard and its contents, an amount of wooden framing and part of the ceiling. The fire was extinguished by the breathing apparatus team using the high pressure hose reel jet.
Once the fire was fully extinguished a positive pressure fan was used to blow air into the property to pressurise it and force out the smoke.
Once the property was cleared of smoke an investigation into the cause of the fire was carried out, the conclusion of this investigation determined the fire to be of an accidental origin.
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “Due to the actions of the owners of the house in closing all the doors, and the rapid and assertive firefighting of the crews, the fire damage was contained to the kitchen area, the remainder of the property was affected by smoke.
“The owners of the property were asleep at the time of the incident, and were only woken and alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms, this gave them time to evacuate the property safely with their dog. If they had not had working smoke alarms, this could very easily of been a far more serious incident.
“We recommend that you have at least one working smoke alarm per floor of your property, and that you test them regularly to ensure they work.
