The A49 south of Ludlow was closed on Tuesday afternoon and evening after a lorry struck a railway bridge.
The lorry carrying hay bales collided with the railway bridge after the load was too tall to pass under it.
The road was closed in both directions from A456 to A4117 until around 9.30pm whilst bridge safety checks were carried out and hay removed from the road.
Trains were also forced to run at a reduced speed between Leominster and Ludlow following the incident.
