The closure will allow for the full reconstruction of a section of road leading onto the roundabout and for further improvements to the Roman Road/Hereford Road signalised junction.

During the work, access will be maintained for pedestrians, dismounted cyclists, and vehicles accessing local businesses.

Diversion routes will be in place for each of the closures, as follows:

– The Roman Road approach closure will be via Roman Road (B4380), Radbrook Road/Hanwood Road (A488), Edgebold roundabout (A5), Bayston Hill roundabout (A5) and Hereford Road (A5112).

– The Hereford Road closure will be via Hereford Road / Belle Vue Road (A5191), Longden Coleham/Longden Road and will continue on the above diversion.

The road is scheduled to be reopened in time for Shrewsbury Town’s home fixture against Southend on Saturday 22 April and before schools return from the Easter break on Monday 24 April.

The work at Meole Brace roundabout is being carried out as part of the Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Package and will create a new link road and shared-use pathway through the roundabout, and upgrade the existing traffic signals.
