House to house enquiries continue as part of Shrewsbury murder investigation

Police are continuing house to house enquiries as part of a murder investigation after a teenager died from a stab wound in Shrewsbury.

Officers were called to reports of a teenager with a stab wound in Wayford Close at around 9.45pm on Monday.

The 16-year-old, who has not been named, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital were he died from his injuries on Thursday morning.

Three people were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning. They are currently on police bail with investigations continuing.

Speaking following the incident, DCI Paul Moxley said: “This incident is understandably concerning and we are working to ascertain the exact circumstances of what happened and apprehend those responsible as quickly as possible. We are following a number of lines of enquiry and are doing everything we can to ensure those responsible are located.

“I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the local community that this is thought to be a targeted attack and we have no reason to believe there is any wider threat to the community.

“We are working to trace a number of men who were seen running away from the scene moments after the incident including one who was seen wearing a green t-shirt. Anyone who may have seen this group of men or heard or seen any type of disturbance in the Wayford Close or Stapleton Road area of Meole Brace between 9pm and 10pm on Monday evening is asked to contact police.”
