Emergency services rescued a man who fell from a railway bridge in Shrewsbury on Saturday evening.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Shrewsbury and Wellington were called to the footbridge that crosses from Whitehouse Gardens to Bagley Drive at around 9.20pm.

Firefighters gained access to the casualty who was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by land ambulance.

The man in his late 20s suffered a head injury in the fall.

West Mercia Police were also in attendance and say the incident is not being treated as suspicious..
