Whitchurch Swimming Centre yesterday reopened after it was forced to close for essential maintenance.

The centre was closed on Monday 7 September and a specialist contractor was brought in to identify and repair the source of a water leak in the pool tank.

The repair was done, the pool refilled, and the water heated and chemically treated.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for business and culture, said: “We praise the patience of users whilst this essential repair work was undertaken, and are delighted that the pool has been able to reopen ahead of schedule.”
