The robbery happened at the Corner House shop in Sunnyside at around 8pm on Saturday, when a man entered and threatened a member of staff with a firearm and a metal stick.

He took the till and it’s screen and two charity boxes, before getting into a dark car with a spoiler and leaving in the direction of Trefonen.

Police investigating the incident have charged 28-year-old Jamie Matthew Watkiss from Llys Road in Oswestry and 30-year-old Angela Catherine Colohan of Hammonds Place in Gobowen, Oswestry in connection with the robbery. Both were due to appear at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court today. Another three people, two men and a woman, have been arrested, and have been released on bail until Monday 29 December, whilst further enquiries are carried out.

Police believe that the stolen items and the clothing worn by the offender, were deposited in country lanes in the Morda and Llynclys area. These are Cross Hatch dark trainers, with a light coloured sole, dark jogging bottoms, a Superdry black jacket, dark gloves and a stocking type face mask. The stolen items were an easy scanner till and two charity boxed for Hope House and Shock for Life.

Detective Sergeant John Weaver said “This would have been a very frightening incident for the person working in the shop, particularly as they were threatened with a firearm. We are urging anyone with information to assist with our investigation to come forward.

“We are keen to recover the stolen items and clothing and we would urge local farmers and members of the public, to keep a look out and call police on 101 quoting incident number 678 of 29 November if they believe they may have found them.”
