The collision occurred at around 7am in the North bound, Shrewsbury carriageway at the junction with Sandford Avenue. It involved a Iveco heavy goods vehicle which had a trailer on the rear containing steelwork.

Ilse sustained fatal injuries during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are keen to trace anyone who may have witnessed the collision, particularly the driver or passengers of white or silver 4×4 small pickup style vehicle, similar to a Range Rover seen in the area at the time. It is believed this vehicle travelled behind the HGV from Craven Arms and continued to Shrewsbury, passing the HGV which had stopped immediately after the traffic lights on the A49.
