John Colin Bennett, of Millfield Drive, Market Drayton, was detained on suspicion of murder after the body of Beatrice Margaret Bennett, aged 75, was found at the address they shared in Millfield Drive at around 8.20am yesterday. He was arrested at the scene.

Mr Bennett, appeared before Telford magistrates this afternoon.

During his appearance in court he spoke only to confirm his name and that he understood the charge of murder.

He will appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday 9 June.
