New speed enforcement site on Haybridge Road in Telford

Anna Higgins, Communications Manager at the Safer Roads Partnership said “In the last three years* there have been 10 collisions on Haybridge Road between its junction with the A5112 Haybridge roundabout and the junction with Haybridge Avenue, including one fatal collision, one serious and eight slight injury collisions. Speed has been a contributory factor in seven out of the ten collisions.

“The new enforcement site on Haybridge Road aims to reduce collisions and casualties and make the road safer for all those who use it. A significant proportion of drivers are currently travelling above 35mph so we hope that the new site will improve driver compliance with the 30mph limit.”

Councillor Hilda Rhodes, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Transport, said: “I am pleased that steps are being taken to improve the safety for pedestrians in Haybridge Road. This is a sensitive subject and we will continue to monitor the situation in the coming months.”

The Safer Roads Partnership is part of Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police and works with partner agencies to reduce casualties and make the roads safer across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, Warwickshire and Worcestershire through targeted communication, education and training together with enforcement.
