He was arrested yesterday after Telford police issued an appeal for witnesses and information.

The assault happened in an alleyway off St Mary’s Street at around 3.45am on Sunday shortly after the woman, aged 20, left the Central Square nightclub.

Police say the suspect has been given police bail, with conditions, while the investigation continues.

They have also renewed their appeal for witnesses to contact Malinsgate police station by calling 101.

Two men whose CCTV images were issued with an appeal to get in touch, have been traced and interviewed. They were in the same nightclub and police said they might have significant information to assist their inquiries.
