The River Severn peaked at Ironbridge last night although levels are expected to remain constant as more wet weather and severe gales are forecast today.

Residents in properties along The Wharfage and in Court Drive, Coalbrookdale were yesterday asked to either move upstairs in their property or leave it altogether.

Pedestrian access behind the barriers on The Wharfage is being restricted, anyone who goes behind the barriers should wear a life jacket and exercise extreme care.

In Shrewsbury the river level continues to slowly fall, with a number of roads re-opening in the local area.

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for strong winds in Shropshire as well as further rain.
