When the Southwater development opens in 2014 the new 11 screen IMAX cinema will offer Shropshire film fans a uniquely immersive cinematic experience, allowing them to enjoy the biggest blockbusters like never before.

Cineworld Chief Executive Steve Wiener said: “We’re very pleased to be part of the new Southwater leisure scheme in Telford.

“The development will bring a variety of entertainment options to the local community including a mixture of restaurants and, of course, a Cineworld multiplex which will feature state of the art digital and 3D screens.

“We look forward to bringing cinema goers and the residents of Telford and Wrekin the widest range of films, at a new modern all digital facility.”

Shropshire’s nearest IMAX cinemas are currently Birmingham, Manchester or Liverpool.

The IMAX combines patented crystal-clear digital projection, powerful digital sound, a larger, slightly curved and specially treated IMAX screen and customised auditorium geometry designed to maximize audiences’ field-of-view.

The Southwater development is set to be a destination for entertainment with restaurant chains Bella Italia, Chimichanga, Harvester, Nando’s, Pizza Express, Wagamama and Zizzi all opening alongside Cineworld.
