The incident happened at Sutton Wharf, Coalport at around 2.30pm this afternoon when a kayak capsized.
The three people, two males, a female and a dog, were rescued from the centre of the River Severn by fire service personnel using throwing lines.
Two people and a dog had been travelling in the kayak when it capsized after hitting a rock. A member of the public heard cries for help and entered the river to help the couple. The member of the public also became stranded in the river.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service sent one appliance from Telford, one appliance and rescue tender from Wellington and a boat, supporting pump an operations officer from Shrewsbury.
