West Shrewsbury consultation draft masterplan.

The consultation, begun on 4 July and was initially planned to run for four weeks, it will now be extended by an additional five weeks, giving local people the chance to have input up until Friday 6 September.

The masterplan is being presented regarding the development of 750 new homes, up to 12ha of employment land, a new Oxon Link Road between the A5 Bypass and the Holyhead Road, and a new expanded local centre.

The masterplan is being prepared in response to the adoption of the council’s Core Strategy, which identifies this area of the town as a strategic location for development, and will guide this future development.

Mal Price, Shropshire Council Cabinet member for planning said:

“The Council welcomes the high level of interest in the consultation and I’m pleased to say that we have been able to extend the time period for comments as requested by local people. I would encourage any residents, businesses or other interested parties to consider the proposals and have their say before the deadline in September.”

Information can be found at www.shrewsburywest.org and exhibition boards will be available to view in the following locations:

– Bicton Heath Co-operative store, Welshpool Road from Wednesday 24 July until Friday 2 August 2013.
– 1st Floor foyer of the Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury from Monday 5 August until Friday 6 September.
