Most of the affected homes were in the Dawley Bank, Lawley, Ketley, Old Park and The Rock areas.

Severn Trent says the fault was caused by their network distribution system following high demand due to the hot weather.

Around 3,000 properties in the area were affected by the issue which saw some properties lose their supply completely whilst others suffered low pressure.

Severn Trent said they had received several hundred calls reporting the problem and a team of engineers were working in the area to fully restore the supply.

Some properties were reportedly without water for around 8 hours.
