Mr Sergeant died at the scene of the collision when his silver Volkswagen Golf GT TDI was in collision with a white Scania tanker on the A458 at around 1.45pm.

He was formally identified following a post mortem examination on Monday amd Shropshire coroner Mr John Ellery is expected to open an inquest tomorrow.

The Golf was travelling towards Shrewsbury and the lorry in the opposite direction when the collision happened near the top of the Bank.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and have renewed their appeal for witnesses to call Bridgnorth police station on 101.
