The work will also include the upgrade of traffic signs and installation of tactile paving at pedestrian crossing points.
The work is expected to start on Monday 26 November and will take approximately three weeks to complete. To minimise disruption for road users, all work will be undertaken overnight.
While work is underway, the A49 between Bushmoor and Craven Arms will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.
Northbound traffic will be diverted east along the B4368 towards Much Wenlock. Traffic should then continue to travel north on the A458, past the town of Cressage towards the A5 at Bayston Hill. Southbound traffic will be diverted eastbound along the B4371 at Church Stretton towards A458 Much Wenlock. Traffic should then continue south and join the B4368 towards Craven Arms roundabout.
Highways Agency project manager, Laura Mobley, said: “We have planned this work carefully to keep disruption to motorists and local residents to a minimum and will aim to complete the work as quickly as possible.”
