
The event now in its 5th Year will see up to 200 people swimming with or without wetsuits from the Welsh Bridge to Kingsland Bridge then a gruelling 400m swim against the flow of the river to finish at the Pengwern boathouse.
After a short briefing 10:30 at the boathouse the swimmers will walk en-masse through the quarry to the welsh bridge for an 11am start.
The 1st Wave of elite male swimmers will enter the water at 11am, followed at five minutes intervals by the remaining male swimmers at 11:05, women at 11:10, Un-seeded swimmers (those who turn up on the day) at 11:20 and 700m novice swimmers at 11:25.
Marshall support on the river is provided by Shrewsbury Canoe club, race headquarters provided by Pengwern boat club with Sabrina Boats allowing use of the pontoon at the Welsh bridge to be used for the start.
The race is organised by Shrewsbury Masters Swimming club.
