The Lake View site, formerly the Brieden flats, in Dothill, has been regenerated by The Wrekin Housing Trust following the demolition of the flats to provide 59 brand new modern houses and apartments, with a selection of rental, shared ownership and sale properties. New tenants have now moved in and are thrilled with their new homes and local community.
Ben Bowden and Leanne Hines, who are 22 and 20, have moved to an apartment, their first home together, on the development. Ben said: “We’re really pleased with our new flat. It’s a great development, with the lake right next to us and close to everything we need.â€
Another happy new tenant is Charanjit Kaur who moved from Donnington to the site with her 17 year old son Karan, who will be starting college at TCAT in September so the location couldn’t be better for them. She said: “I love it! The Wrekin Housing Trust is absolutely brilliant and has been really helpful . There are fantastic pool views and it’s in a great location for getting into Wellington, as well as having cheaper electric bills due to the solar panels. I can’t fault it.â€

All of the properties have been built to Lifetimes Homes’ standards and four of the properties on the site have also been specially adapted for those with particular requirements.
One such property is the Childs’ family home, which has special features such as a through-floor lift direct to one of the bedrooms and a wet room. Mr Childs and his family are thrilled with the house. He said: “This house has made such a huge difference to us, we have three children all with individual requirements, and to have a house where they are able to be more independent makes things that little bit easier. We’re really grateful to the Trust and to their partners for the work that they have done on this house and the development as a whole. It’s just a great place to live.â€
Other happy customers include Mr and Mrs Mitchell who have seen a massive improvement in the home they are now living in compared to previous ones and say it’s “a million times betterâ€, Steven Gaston, who has an apartment which is wheelchair accessible and has a specially adapted kitchen to enable him to be much more independent and Mark and Sonia who are in a ‘Rent to Homebuy’ property and can buy a share of their home in the future.
