Yellow Alert of Severe Weather
The Met Office have issued a yellow alert as heavy rain and strong winds will spread northwards across Shropshire tomorrow.
The Met Office said “This may lead to some local flooding given the recent wet conditions, and that northeasterly winds may exceed 50 mph in some locations, bringing the risk of falling trees. There is a chance that this warning may be upgraded to amber over the weekend.â€
The Environment Agency has previously warned that the drought gripping swathes of England could increase the risk of flash flooding as rain is less easily absorbed by dry, compacted soils, instead running off and causing localised floods.
