Their ‘Wrekin Challenge’ took place on Sunday March 25th, when they fully immobilised one of their own volunteers and carried him to the summit 1,350ft above the Shropshire plains. They were helped by volunteers from the ‘West Midlands 4×4 Response’ charity who brought four of their own vehicles; two of which acted as support vehicles.
Co-ordinator Steve Brown said: “It took us three-and-a-half hours in total and was very hard work! There was also an emergency whilst on the Wrekin with a fire being reported. To assist the fire service in bringing up the crews, the 4×4 response team who were at the base of the Wrekin assisted and passed us as we were ascending.
“All in all a very enjoyable day and we would like to say a massive thank-you to ‘West Midlands 4×4 Response’, West Midlands Ambulance Service and all those who have kindly donated to our scheme for this challenge.â€
