The van containing three people left the road before colliding with a hedge or wall between Church Stretton and All Stretton at around 10.30am.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Ambulance crews arrived to find a security van that had left the road and been in a significant collision with a tree.
“The driver of the van and a man travelling in the back of the vehicle had both suffered serious injuries and were trapped in the van.
“The man in the back of the van went into traumatic cardiac arrest at the scene and received immediate advanced life support. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff and the Doctor in attendance, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“The driver of the van, a man in his mid 40’s, suffered serious leg, pelvic and head injuries. He received emergency treatment at the scene whilst being released from the van by the fire service. The man was trapped for around 90 minutes. He was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency treatment. The hospital had been pre alerted to the mans arrival and serious injuries.
“A third man travelling in the van suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. He was transferred by ambulance to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment.â€
Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, an Incident support officer, the West Midlands CARE team, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance with a Doctor on board attended the scene.
The road was closed in both directions.
