The store which is planned to be built on Station Road in the town is expected to create around 400 jobs.

The developer St Modwen, said the new store with a 50,000sq ft sales floor would also have a petrol station on site parking for 530 vehicles.

In October developers St Modwen submitted a planning application for the development. The application is understood to be going to planners at Telford & Wrekin council next month.

Local residents say they are worried the proposed store could hard local businesses that would be unable to compete with the giant supermarket. They say the development would create an empty high street with a supermarket at the end.
