The victim was walking along a footpath that runs between Wrekin College and Whitchurch Drive at around 4pm when he was approached by two unknown youths. The two youths – who were both male – started mocking the victim and tried to take photos of him.

The victim shouted at the youths to leave him alone but one of them then verbally abused him and without warning punched him in the face.

A police spokesman said: “After the victim was struck in the face the youths quickly made off on foot, while the victim made his way home before calling the police.

“As a result of this incident the victim suffered a bloody nose and a small cut to his top lip but he has been able to describe the two youths that approached him.

“The first youth – the one that hit him – is described as being Asian, aged between 14 and 16, around 5ft 7inches tall and as wearing a school uniform including a dark blazer and diagonally striped blue and yellow tie.

“The second youth is described as being white, aged between 14 and 15, as being around 5ft 3inches tall and as wearing a similar uniform to the other youth. The second youth is also described as wearing a dark overcoat.

“Anyone who believes they witnessed this incident, or who may be able to help identify the two youths involved, is asked to call police in Telford as soon as possible.

“Anyone who believes they may have information about this incident is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 – the force’s new non emergency telephone number – or call 0300 333 3000.

“Alternatively, please remember that information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather not get directly involved yourself.”
