“Hang on to your cardboard if you have the space. We can sell it to raise money – turning our waste into a Christmas present for the Severn Hospice and Hope House” says Ali Thomas spokesperson for the Cardboard Christmas Group.

“If you’re old enough to remember that long ago, think 1970’s paper collections, where people collected in garages, sheds, schools and scout huts. We’re getting support from all corners of the town – please join us!”

Cardboard Christmas have asked Cwm Harry a social enterprise specialising in waste to help set up the scheme. Adam Kennerley CEO of Cwm Harry says “Whilst there are practical issues to be sorted out it is great to be involved with such an enthusiastic group – when it comes to communities resolving problems then where there is a will there is often a way. If enough people can join in then it should be possible to raise money for local good causes.”

Anyone who could collect and store cardboard for their street or who is part of a group that would like to get involved is invited to a meeting on Monday 5th December, from 7-9pm at the Hobbs Room, Shrewsbury Library.
