The Alaskan malamute dog and electrical items were reported missing following a burglary at a home in Ardern Avenue in Dawley some time between midnight and 5am yesterday.

A set of car keys, a black and silver ipad and an ipod touch in a black leather case were stolen.

The dog was found shortly after 5am by a member of the public by the railway line, about two to three miles away. The dog was taken to Hilbrae and is safe and well.

The electrical items are still outstanding.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “Fortunately the dog was found by a member of the public and is safe and well. It is unknown whether the dog was stolen or whether the dog followed the burglars outside after they left the doors and gate open.

“Police are investigating the matter and are eager to hear from anyone with information that could help them with their enquiries. In particular, we would like to hear from any individuals who may be offered an ipad or ipod touch for sale in suspicious circumstances.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Telford Police on 0300 333 3000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
