Motorist in serious condition after colliding with tree in Cound

The woman was woman trapped in her car after colliding with a tree on the A458 near Leasowes Business Park, Cound, at approximately 8.30am this morning.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service Spokesman said: “The woman driver in her twenties was immediately assessed and treated at the scene for significant multiple leg fractures, chest and internal injuries.

“The patient was immobilised using leg splints, and placed on a spinal board with a neck collar. She was given pain relief and her condition was stabilised before being conveyed by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further assessment and specialist treatment.”

An ambulance, an incident support officer, a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Worcestershire were dispatched to the scene. The air ambulance, with a doctor onboard, landed in a field adjacent to the incident.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital was pre alerted to the condition of the patient.
