The Hive and Bright Owls get pedalling for famine appeal

Staff from Shropshire arts venue The Hive Music and Media Centre and language school Bright Owls in Shrewsbury are gearing up for pedal power to raise money for the east Africa famine appeal, cycling around lake Vyrnwy in Wales on Sunday September 25.

Creating a chain reaction on the day from The Hive Music and Media Centre will be venue manager ellen green, programmes manager Katie Jennings and marketing assistant Habib Malik-Mansell. They will be joined by language tutors Julie Ball and Marisa Fernandez from Bright Owls, in addition to Marisa’s daughter Sonia Fernandez.

The Hive’s director Alyson Lanning will be donating a day’s wages to the disasters emergency committee east Africa appeal, in support of the hive team’s fundraising efforts.

Habib Malik-Mansell, marketing assistant at the hive’s said “whilst the hive is a registered charity, working to provide opportunities for young people in Shropshire, it is always important for us to acknowledge that there are people dealing with extreme situations on a daily basis throughout the world. The hive team is pleased to join forces with bright owls in raising money for this valuable cause and we would like to encourage people to sponsor the marathon bike ride and help us reach our target of £800”.
