A motorcyclist died in a collision with a car on the main Bridgnorth to Kidderminster A442 on Friday.

The collision happened at around 2.40pm near Quatt on the junction with the Hampton Loade turning.

The motorcyclist, a 61-year-old man from the Kidderminster area, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was riding a white Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle which collided with a red Vauxhall Astra, the two occupants of the car received minor injuries.

Police are seeking witnesses to the actual collision or the circumstances leading up to it.

Police Constable Paul Bosley, the investigating officer, said today: “It is important that anyone who saw the collision makes contact with Shrewsbury police station on 0300 333 3000.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who saw either the red Astra or the white motorbike, which was a Honda CBR, prior to the collision. The bike was travelling from the general direction of Kidderminster towards Quatt and the Astra was joining the main A442 from the Hampton Loade junction.”

He added: “A full investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances and a report will be prepared for the south Shropshire coroner. I urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant they may feel it is, to come forward.”

A post mortem is likely to be held on Thursday followed by an inquest opening, probably on Thursday or Friday.

The road was closed for several hours following the incident while the emergency services worked at the scene.
