The fire broke out in a large empty eight bed roomed country house known as Sweyney Cliff at around 11pm last night.
The property is believed to have been built in 1805 by William Horton and is up for sale for offers over £650,000 by a Shrewsbury estate agent. Recently the property had been empty after its owners moved out.
Coalport bridge is closed this morning as firefighters pump water to the property.
Appliances from Telford, Much Wenlock, Tweedale, Wellington, Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth all attended blaze overnight.
Around 20 firefighters remain at the scene this morning.
