Police received a report from security at Tesco in White Lion Meadow just after 6pm on Friday 15 July 2011 that a woman in her 20s had been assaulted at the rear of the store by a man, who had then stolen her mobile phone.

Officers arrived and arrested a 23-year-old man outside the supermarket on suspicion of robbery.

He was interviewed and charged with robbery and was due to appear before Shrewsbury Magistrate’s Court on Monday 18 July 2011.

The victim suffered grazing and was checked over by paramedics at the scene but did not need hospital treatment.

Detective Constable Jan Teggin, who is investigating the incident, appealed for anyone who might have seen what happened or any suspicions persons in the area that evening to get in touch on 0300 333 3000.
