The hospital’s League of Friends has been able to provide funds for a new Cardio-Vascular Ultrasound Scanner after being chosen as the beneficiary of this year’s Ludlow Charity Race Day, which was held in April.
In all, 650 tickets were sold for the charity event, and this total was topped up by sponsorship from local businesses and collections on the day.
About £57,000 was raised and has been used to buy a Cardio-Vascular Ultrasound Scanner, which is used to diagnose heart conditions without the need for invasive procedures.
Jayne Mott, Chairman of the League of Friends of the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, said: “It has been a brilliant effort and it is good to know how many people this machine is helping.
“We would like to thank everyone who helped to raise this fantastic amount of money.â€
Lynne Taylor, Head of Cardiorespiratory at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, said: “The Trust is always grateful for the generous support of individuals and groups such as the League of Friends. This donation has been used to buy a new Cardio-Vascular Ultrasound Scanner, which is already being used to treat patients at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.â€
