At a special event hosted by Museum staff, veterans will be treated to a full day’s programme including live music, tours round the Museum’s Conservation Centre, an afternoon tea dance with music from a local swing band and a flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Dakota.

Veterans will also be treated to tours around the Museum’s Conservation Centre were veterans and their guests will be able to view work on current restoration projects, such as the Vickers Wellington and the Handley Page Hampden in an area not normally open to the public.

An afternoon tea dance will get veterans up on their feet as they dance away to live music including songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and others from the 1940’s and 1950’s era. The day will close with a flypast from the Battle of Britain Dakota, scheduled for 4.10pm (weather permitting).

With former Service Men and Women joining in from across Shropshire and the West Midlands, Armed Forces Day is set to be a truly memorable and sentimental gathering for Veterans and their guests to enjoy.
