Thieves take £3,000 during Shrewsbury pub burglary

The incident happened at the Buck’s Head in Frankwell between about 10.30am and 10.40am on Monday, when the office was left unattended for just a few moments.

The offender is believed to have entered through an unlocked rear door, used by its bed and breakfast guests, and stolen the money, which was in a red cloth money bag stored in a light blue ice-cream tub, from the office before making off.

The bag also contained about £90 in coins in a small yellow and brown purse with a zip and a couple of clear money bags.

Security measures at the pub have since been increased.

A white man was seen ‘hanging around’ the rear of the pub around the time of the burglary and police are keen to trace and speak to him about the incident.

He appeared to be in his late 20s or 30s and was of slim build, wearing a light-coloured T-shirt and jeans. He had distinctive dark brown, wavy, collar-length hair with a fringe.

Anyone who saw someone matching this description in the area that morning or recognises the description is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000.

Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
